Asti, Vittorio Alfieri's native town, well-known for its wine production, is located in the middle of a hilly land, between the high and low Monferrato, neighbouring the Langhe.

Many events tied to wine and good cuisine take place in the city. Asti, ancient roman town, invites to discover routes studded with history, art, flavours and folklore.

The tour continues with reference to the gastronomy, where typical food dishes can be tasted, accompanied by prestigious wines of the area. The most important city events are: the Palio, ancient horse race (the third Sunday in September), the festival of the Sagre which brings together the cultural, gastronomic and folk traditions of Asti (the second Sunday in September), the Douja D'or, Italian wine tasting and the Truffle Fair, exhibition/fair which takes place in Alfieri square in the month of November.
